I am very satisfied and “fed” afterwards because it’s a deeper level of Dominance that allows me to just be. When engaged in primal play I am comfortable within Myself. I enjoy the hunt and the level intimate surrender. This gives the Dominant a chance to explore the most raw and unfiltered aspects of their Dominance, to both physically and mentally overpower their partner. They desire to overpower and consume their prey. Primal Predator/Hunters: Primal predators or hunters, on the other hand, live for the chase- the hunt. This gives the submissive a chance to submit fully in a very physical and adrenaline producing way, but only after the Dominant has proved his strength, power, and control over them. Primal prey desire to be hunted, chased, and overpowered. Primal Prey: Primal prey is generally the role assumed by the submissive personality within a dynamic- although not always and switches add a whole other layer to the complexities which is primal play. Not every primal is going to identify in one of the following roles, but I am going to break down what it means if you hear someone identify as primal prey or as a primal predator/hunter, as well as a few other terms you may hear as you dive deeper into this topic. Reminder: all aspects of BDSM needs to be with an informed and enthusiastically consenting partner, especially anything that is considered edge play. Think less floggers, canes and paddles but more teeth, nails, and pulling of hair. Generally, primal doesn’t involve all the fun implements you may see in other aspects of BDSM. Primal allows a person to give into and deeply explore their natural urges by allowing them to act on impulse, rather than learned civilized behavior. Think of primal play as stripping away the “civilized” aspect of our interactions with one another and relying on things such as biting, scratching, wrestling or growling to communicate pain, pleasure, and everything that falls in between. This post may be a little long, so grab a cup of coffee (or tea if that’s more your jam) and settle in.įirst, primal is a tendency to show more animalistic tendencies during sex and various interactions with your partner. I am not -by any stretch of the imagination- an expert in primal play but I am going to dive into what it is, how it is incorporated into the lifestyle, and my personal experiences with a primal Dominant. Primal, in my opinion, is one of the more taboo and less talked about kinks within the BDSM community.
